An essay film on life as a perpetual outsider in contemporary Australia,
where the city both connects and isolates. In a forest in suburban Melbourne, Ann, a Chinese girl, meets Meilan, a Chinese woman. Two outsiders in a foreign land, they find in each other a heightened empathy. As Ann is drawn into a tale where reincarnation and the surreal intertwine, an old folktale may begin to repeat itself.
